I apprenticed for several years in the SOHO district of New York City, at a school called The Jewellery Workshop and Gallery. There I studied ancient methods of granulation, chain making and cloisonné enameling with Joseph English and Fredricka Kulicke. By combining these ancient methods with more traditional jewelry making techniques, I am able to create classic, timeless designs.
I enjoy working in 22K gold, and many of my designs are influenced by ancient gold creations... Etruscan, Byzantine and Greek. I alloy my 22K gold, by using 24k gold, silver and copper. I either mill the gold into sheet metal or draw it into wire depending upon what jewelry designs I'm making.
I prefer to hand make all my chains, making them out of fine silver or the 22K alloy and using centuries old chainmaking techniques I learned during my apprenticeship. All this might seem time consuming but the finished product is well worth it.
