Martini Pick Winner
2008 Winning Design for the Commemorative Martini Pick
|
Donna Armstrong of New Meadows, ID, designed this beautiful and graceful martini pick which was chosen as the 1st Place Winner in IMAG's 1st Annual Commemorative Martini Pick Design Challenge.
Donna's Statement:
"As an artist who works with precious metals and gemstones, the challenge to design and manufacture a ‘pick’ for use in a martini glass was a challenging feat. The design began by identifying the function of the pick to hold olives and the ability of the consumer to control the position of the pick while drinking. A successfully designed pick should also offer the ability to hang or stay on the glass edge during and after the drink is consumed. Once the function was identified the artistry or form of the object had to blend. The vision began by identifying that circles represent the shape of the olive and the free form curves represent the coming together to have a drink with a great friend or family. It is the hope of the artist that this sterling silver ‘pick’ is a part of many fond memories and special occasions."
