Having trouble with fine silver bezel settings

I bought fine silver bezel settings from MetalClayFindings.com. After firing my PMC3 ring with several small, round, open settings, I found it hard to set the stones. I had to push so hard to bend the metal over the stone, the result was not round enough. It's also hard on my hands. Does anyone have advice? Thanks.

I don't have a lot of experience with bezel setting, but I'd like a claification. Are these bezels premade and presized for certain stones? Have you used this company's bezels before? Do you have more than one style of bezel pusher that may make this particular bezel easier to cope with.... ie keep changing till you find one that works? :)

Yes, they are premade and presized. I could probably learn to work with them, but realize I can't polish the PMC around them as I like. I think I will stick with other settings for now. Thanks for your thoughts.

This is an older post and I'm just getting around to reading the msg board - but have you tried annealing? Sounds like the heat from the kiln work hardened the bezels.

Cynthia, I use one of those on occasion and I find the smaller sizes too shallow to hold a stone in... have had to use double-stick tape a couple of times. They are made with a punch and are very difficult to burnish around the stone and often the stones don't fit perfectly to begin with.
